– agreement with Swedish Consafe Logistics.
(Oslo, 18/4/2012) As a result of its plans for growth, Europris has pointed out that warehouse operations are one of its most important strategic areas. The chain is now investing in new logistics systems to increase productivity and efficiency in its warehouse operations. It is the Swedish logistics company Consafe Logistics that has been given the responsibility to provide the solutions.
The low-cost retail chain Europris is renowned for its campaigns, and has experienced tremendous growth in Norway in recent years. The company is also planning for further growth over the next few years, and expects to introduce dozens of new retail outlets. Six years ago the retail chain opened a new, modern central warehouse outside Fredrikstad measuring nearly 28,000 square meters – the company is now taking a new step to strengthen its logistics on the way to further growth.
Increased productivity, accuracy, and more retail-friendly deliveries
"At Europris, we are working continuously to improve our business operations and continue our expansion," says Trond Tvedt, Director of Logistics at Europris.
"As a result of this, the management has designated warehouse operations as one of the most important strategic focus areas. Today our warehouse operations are entirely manual, spread out over three different warehouse locations in Fredrikstad, and over time we have ensured that both productivity and delivery service can be improved significantly," says Tvedt.
"It is therefore an important investment for us to acquire Consafe Logistics as a partner providing the logistics systems that will take us a major step forward in terms of how we operate our warehouses. The goal is to increase operational productivity, along with control and precision in our operations. In addition, improved packaging and information flows will mean that we will be able to provide more retail-friendly supplies and transport," concludes Trond Tvedt.
A cost-effective supply chain
Via the agreement with Consafe Logistics, Europris has declared that the logistics company will deliver a complete Warehouse Management System.
"We are very happy that Europris has such confidence in us, now that they have chosen Consafe Logistics as their partner after the meticulous work they have undertaken to find a logistics provider," says Ali Zeybek, who is the Sales Manager for Consafe in Norway.
"We look forward to contributing to Europris reaching its growth targets, and as a result of the agreement we will implement our logistics system Astro WMS as support for their central warehouse operations and two separate buffer warehouses. The goal is that the entire supply chain is completely optimised from receipt at the central warehouse until the goods arrive at the retail outlet, and handled with the mobile solutions we have already delivered to Europris. They will have a supply chain that is cost effective, and which supports the growth plans for their business," concludes Zeybek.
